How to Join the Milwaukee Curling Club!
The Milwaukee Curling Club is open and welcoming to new members! If you’re interested, we would love to have you join us for this season. To join, simply click "New Member Sign-Up" on our main menu to get started. Any questions, email membership@milwaukeecurlingclub.com
We start curling in October and finish by the end of March each year. If you join before leagues form in mid-October, you can curl for the entire year. You can join after that (and we will pro-rate your membership cost)… you can always curl in our Beginner League and we will get you involved in other activities, where possible!
A couple quick notes:
- For most leagues, excluding Saturday's Beginner League, you'll be assigned to a team, so plan to play most weeks!
- Socializing is an important tradition after each game throughout the year… It is one of many reasons people enjoy curling so much!
- We are a volunteer club… a great way to get to know your fellow members is becoming involved in many or our volunteer opportunities (such as putting on bonspiels or helping with Learn to Curls or Corporate Events).
Additional information that may be helpful:
- Leagues
- We curl in two semesters: October-December and January-March.
- Most people sign up for at least 1-2 leagues (the more you curl, the quicker you improve).
- Beginner League – great place to get practice when you’re new!
- Most Saturday mornings from 10:00am to Noon, and Sunday evenings from 6:00 to 8:30pm
- Pick up format… no need to get a sub if you can’t make it.
- Lots of newer folks… just like you!
- Other leagues (ideal leagues for new curlers are highlighted)
- Assigned to team… email to get a sub if you can’t make it.
- If a league has 2 draw times, the schedule will dictate which one you have each week.
- Men: Monday nights (5:45 pm and 8:00 pm) and Wednesday nights (5:45 pm and 8:15 pm)
- Women: Tuesday nights (6:30 pm) and Wednesday mornings (9:30 am)
- Open/Co-ed: Sunday evenings (4:00 pm), Monday afternoons (3:45 pm), Thursday afternoons (3:45 pm), Thursday evenings (6:00 pm and 8:00 pm) & Sunday Night 5 & Under (6:00 pm)
- Social League: Friday nights (6:00 pm and 8:00 pm)… more emphasis on socializing than curling!
- Stick League: Tuesday afternoons (4:00 pm)
- Mixed Doubles: Saturday afternoon (2:00 pm)
- Costs
- First-Year membership is $300 for the entire 6-month season.
- Sign up for as many leagues and sub as you want… no extra cost.
- You can join for the second semester (which starts early in January) for half the price: $150.
- We can talk about a pro-rated amount for partial semesters as well.
- There is a $30 discount when registering, if you attended a Learn to Curl session.
- Beer Club
- $120 for the 6-month season.
- $60 for second semester only.
- Must be at least 21… and a member. 😊
- If not a beer drinker, you are welcome to bring in your favorite beverage.
- Equipment
- No need to buy any equipment… you can curl with the same equipment you did today.
- When curlers start buying equipment, it’s probably a pair of curling shoes first… then maybe a broom…
- Can buy items at Steve’s Curling Supplies in Madison (and by phone and online).
- Kids' Curling
- $75 for the 6-month season.
- Little Rockers (grades 1-5) on scheduled Sundays from 12:30-1:45 pm.
- Junior Curling (grades 6-12) on scheduled Sundays from 2:00-4:00 pm.
- College Curling on scheduled Fridays from 3:15-5:30 pm.
- Young Adult (up to age 28) and Weekend members: $400 for the 6-month season.
- Bonspiels (tournaments)
- Intraclub – some competitive, some just fun… all are great social events!
- Interclub – many people travel to other clubs for more competition and social fun.
